We carried out an engineered oak floor fitting at a high-specification apartment in the Riverlight Quay development, Nine Elms, SW11. The brief called for a wide-plank natural oak board in a brushed and oiled finish, installed throughout the open-plan living area and hallway. The concrete subfloor was moisture-tested, primed, and prepared with a flexible adhesive prior to laying. All skirtings, thresholds and door trims were completed to a first-fix standard in line with the development's specification.
Nine Elms has undergone a major transformation over the past decade, with large residential developments rising along the South Bank between Vauxhall and Battersea Power Station. The apartments in Riverlight, Embassy Gardens, and the surrounding developments all sit on concrete subfloors — which requires a different approach to fitting than the suspended timber floors found in older properties nearby.
Engineered hardwood is the preferred choice in these developments. The layered construction is dimensionally stable over underfloor heating systems, handles the humidity typical of riverside locations, and can be sanded and refinished later in its life. We have extensive experience fitting engineered and solid hardwood floors in new-build South London apartments and understand the specific requirements around noise regulations, adhesive specification, and the tolerances expected by managing agents.
We serve Nine Elms, Vauxhall, Stockwell and all of SW8 and SW11. Contact us to discuss your project and arrange a free survey.
